Henchmen Question
In Post-Searing Ascalon where are the higher level Henchmen?? I'm level 9 Ranger and all I get are lvl 3 Healer, lvl 3 Mesmer, lvl 3 Warrior???
I want to kill Charr which are lvl 5-8 ...and the Henchmen are not high enuff. The Charr always attack my Healer first for some reason (game mechanics). Any info as to how I can get higher lvl Henchmen when doing solo in post-searing Ascalon?? What about the other cities I haven't explored yet, are the Henchmen there the same noob levels?? |

the henchmen's levels will go up as you reach new outposts, new towns. you also gain access to 3 new henchmen when you reach yak's bend, BUT, you can't take them back to where they don't belong. if you map travel to ascalon, the henchmen there will still be lv3. |

As far as strategy goes, I basically divide and conquer when a Charr wanders away from his group... I have noticed that sometimes after I begin my attack, the Charr will run back to his group on purpose, thus causing his entire group of 4-6 Charr to get into the fight. I'm starting to think that as a Ranger/Ele character, that it's not a good role in the game. Rangers are supposed to be support characters right? I find that my group of Henchmen are good mostly, but not when you want to accomplish something away from the quests which I find to be total irritating. It could be extremely easy to group with friends and conquer the group of Charr, but what about if someone wants to do it solo for a change? I'm not very old in the game (4 days atm) and need to reseach this further. |

Bottom line is that Char are tough. Just make sure to focus on the healers first and the groups will go down much easier. I haven't had to many problems progressing through them solo let alone with henchmen. Just hang in there and fine tune your strategies for the Charr and you should be all set.

well the choice for henchmen should be easy for you; mage, fighter, healer. when seeing a big mob, there are several things you can do. first, you can move closer slowly, just close enough to lure one of them, and then quickly retreat. that monster you just lured and his group will come running at you(usually 3 or 4), and when you got them far away enough from the other groups, start killing.
and if you find yourself getting killed too much, you can tell the henchmen to tank. stand so that the monsters are just outside the targetting circle on the radar, press C to select the closest monster, and press ctrl+shift+spacebar to tell the party you're targetting it. with henchmen, this will cause them to charge in. also remember to ctrl+click or ctrl+spacebar or ctrl+number key to tell your henchmen to concentrate fire on one monster at a time. monsters that can heal are smart. |
